Quantum Technologies (QT) harness the unique properties of quantum physics to deliver unprecedented capabilities to modern information-society applications. The technologies of Quantum Computation, Quantum Communications, Quantum Simulation, and Quantum Metrology and Sensing are now moving from theoretical possibilities to real-world deployment, approaching applications ranging from secure internet to non-invasive brain imaging.

Catalonia is already home to many leading research groups in QT, to rapidly growing QT start-ups, and to industry leaders ready to integrate QT into major industrial operations. As with any nascent technology, a major challenge for QT is to move discoveries from the research laboratory to into industrially viable implementations. QuantumCAT will address this challenge in three ways: first, by advancing selected high-potential laboratory technologies toward industrial deployment through focused collaborative research efforts; second, by facilitating community-wide dissemination of successful deployment and innovation strategies; third, by outreach to the research groups and industrial actors.
